Although my photographs can be described as surreal, a significant source for the images is the history of photography itself. Surfacing with the advent of the camera, spirit photography and visual hoaxes were discovered through manipulation. The hoaxes shattered the validity of the photograph as a document of truth. My images attempt to question the existence or necessity of the physical and the burdens material imply. They are more appropriately considered visual poetry, exposing truths as personalized internal ventures.
